Belaying my climbing partner, Jeremy, up Pinnacle Gully on Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. This was my first successful ascent of the whole climb after about 4 previous attempts over the last 25 years. Most attempts were turned back due to harsh conditions (100mph winds, sub zero temps, etc.). Eighteen years ago we were into the 2nd pitch when I got knocked off by a chunk of ice that came down from a party ahead of us on the route. I fell about 50 feet and ended up dangling, unhurt, on the end of the rope (after taking a factor 2 fall onto my belayer's harness). We abandoned that attempt. But at long last the route is done! Happy New Year everyone!
