I have cheated on my second wife - Nikon. I become acquainted with my new mistress 5DmkII and L 24-70 during few visits at local Henry’s. There were always too many people to get up really close and have some fun. I got obsessed with her big sensor and movie mode, at the same time very slim and sexy body in comparison to bigger models.
I dreamed about us for quite a few days. Finally I picked her up at Henry’s during Christmas. I paid for her in cash to avoid my first wife to see any transaction traces. I took her home when nobody was around and first ‘human” wife doing Christmas shopping.
I charged her up a bit. At first, I could not turn her on with index finger as I could my Nikon, I had to use my thumb, quite a difference and felt little wired, at list for me, I’m sure not for her. I liked this, she was not easy as my second wife, one finger tricks are boring, I wanted something new.
Once she turned on; wow she shined at me all naked with her BIG LCD, nice crisp, tender, bight and so clear image. I shoot Christmas chocolate Santa and he look so good on LCD I almost wanted to lick him, I’m sure I would if it would not be Santa but nice chocolate bar.
It was completely dark in the room, we played only with Christmas lights on, she could focus better then my old wife, and her high ISO was just mind blowing. Menus seemed to be less complicated, and directions more straight forward. After 2 hours of very close one on one I know all the details, I’m sure my long marriage experience helped quite a bit.
At this point I do not know if I will leave my second wife and go with new 5DMKII, I think I will live with both for another few months, I might sell few lenses from my first marriage.(I do not expect too loose, they are going on ebay for the same money, sometimes more I paid for them)
New misters opened up my cropped mind in new creative ways, I finally see word the way as I saw it before, 25 years ago when I got my first film camera, FF memories are coming back, like a flash backs.
DoF is incredible, there is less pixels on subject when shooting with 5DMKII but I have so much more in the frame. 80-200mm seems to be finally perfect portrait lens, where with my second wife I was just shooting moon with it.
We have spent Christmas together and I found myself shooting movies more than taking pictures.
I feel a little bad, but I’m in love. (I always considered myself camera racists; I never even used word starting with C, now I’m in love with Canon)
Look, how interesting live turned up for me, moral: never say never, be open minded and take life as it goes, and love every minute of it.
I’m off shooting: we have -25C I want to check my new baby in extreme temperatures, I want to see her lens shrinking from cold.
