Hi
I don't care about making my own lenses. I am ten thumbs, so it would
never work. But I have tried to make my own ND filter. I once saw a ND
filter (I think it was a Contax filter) made of a metal plate with
small holes in. I have made a test myself, using an old UV filter,
taking the glass out, replaced it with some thick, black paper, and
then made some holes in it. It reduce the light, but I never tested it
on real film. My guess is it will influence on DOF. My guess is I have
to be very careful where I make the holes, but it is only guessing. I
am sure Contax did it, so it must be possible.
It sounds like there are some people here with knowledge, so maybe
someone has some hints? I think a ND filter is quite usefull,
specially because Zenit cameras don't have so fast shutter speeds. It
may also be usefull for flash photography...
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
ND filter can be made from a sheet of B&W film. Expose it and develop to
density you need :) I heard this hint from a comrade in another list but
I never used it myself.
